It’s fitting that today is World Smile Day because President @wgcoleman.bsky.social, AFT President @rweingarten.bsky.social, & AFT Vice Presidents were greeted with smiles (and smiley rocks) during their visit to one of the 11 branch kindergartens in District 8 in Budapest.

Earlier today, President @wgcoleman.bsky.social, AFT President @rweingarten.bsky.social, & AFT VPs met with Hungarian Minister of Education Judit Lannert. President Coleman had the opportunity to share about AFTPA’s recent voter registration drives & moving civic education into practical efforts.

Today, President @wgcoleman.bsky.social also attended the Budapest Forum, which focused on building sustainable democracies, and heard @aft.org President @rweingarten.bsky.social speak as a part of a panel discussion on Resilient Democracies in a Fractured World.

President @wgcoleman.bsky.social, AFT President @rweingarten.bsky.social, and fellow AFT VPs also met with Budapest Lord Mayor Gergely Karácsony, who was a champion for democracy under Victor Orban’s authoritarian rule. He spoke abt the importance of local governance when democracy is under threat.

President @wgcoleman.bsky.social has been proud to join @aft.org President @rweingarten.bsky.social and three of her fellow AFT Vice Presidents in Budapest for a Hungary Solidarity Mission to discuss democracy and tour the Egressy Gábor Secondary Technical School.

Thank you, Billy! #FairContractNow
