A dream to work with these social #birds and the fantastic #co-authors!

Great use of the tens of thousands of dwarf mongoose body mass measurements collected over the years. Animals vary substantially in mass across days and seasons - when determining if a tag is too heavy we need to think about how light an animal might become, not just its mass right now.

📝We investigated temporal variation in wild #bird & #mammal body mass. Important conclusions for comparative studies and those involving deployment of animal-borne devices.

🙏Another chance to thank the amazing #Masters & #PhD students who I've been lucky enough to work alongside – an inspiration as scientists, communicators & colleagues, as well as being enormous fun to spend time with.

Working with #ECRs is an absolute highlight of my job. ☺️

📖You submit a detailed reflective account of your supervisory practice, experience, effectiveness & growth, assessed by an expert panel. 💭It provided a valuable, formal opportunity to reflect on my approach & its impact on the postgraduate researchers that I've been fortunate enough to support.

I’m delighted to have become an @ukcge.bsky.social ‘Recognised Research Supervisor’ – 1 of the first 2 ever at the @bristoluni.bsky.social. The UKCGE reflective framework helped me identify strengths in what I've learned over many years & areas for continued development. @bristolbiosci.bsky.social

Using detailed natural observations, acoustic analyses & field #experiments, Lola investigated how chough ‘peep’ calls function in recruitment to food. Calls were produced at a higher rate for divisible than whole food, which was less likely to be monopolised. #bioacoustics
