So, happy 89th anniversary of the day Oswald Mosley tried to sell fascism to Liverpudlians—and someone concussed him with a brick

Please consider grabbing a copy of Pale Grey Idol. We'd like to carry on with it. Perfect October reading. We'll open to submissions likely in the year, if feasible. ie. it doesn't lose money. Affordably priced in print and eBook.

Some may recall the great run we had with my 'lit rag' Shadows and Tall Trees. A Shirley Jackson win, several stories reprinted in "Best Of's. Our new lit rag, Pale Grey Idol, harkens back to that aesthetic. 100 pages at 5" x 8". A little gem of dark wonders.

Covers to Issue Zero of Pale Grey Idol, and issues 1 thru 5 of Shadows & Tall Trees.

Back when his Hill House came out and everyone seemed to love it, I felt like I was going mad. Heinous saccharine shit. He made SJ saccharine?!

oh and btw! I read and loved The Complex earlier this year. Had intended to say so. Much as I hated Art. I originally bought it years ago but finally got to it then.

These days if I get one errand done I deserve a reward. That’s just how it works, these days

That’ll do, pig.

Performative Male 2.0 just dropped.

A pen resting on a pad on a garden table in sunlight and tree shade, a herbal tea and a pint of water beside it. Handwriting is illegible, has also been horizontally flipped for the lolz.

Unless of course such a thing already exists, which it should.

@seanbirnie.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 8:51 AM

Someone should give me a load of money to edit a science fiction/horror anthology called, after Brecht, BAD NEW THINGS.
