"Looking becomes physical ... the artwork can remain completely still while the viewer becomes active..."

the application of scale, proximity & peripheral vision in #art when the artist doesn't intend to show us the whole picture all at once:

Herbert Bayer,'s diagram showing his theory of the Extended Field of Vision (1930) - figure with an eye for a head places the eye at the center of an expanding field of images. Pictures occupy positions overhead and below the conventional eye line. The viewer faces several directions at once. Bayer described the arrangement as an ‘inclusive picture’ of possible viewpoints, with exhibition material extending beyond the frontal wall.

Something I'm very aware of as a reviewer of so many films from around the world - often the original language, the dub, & the subtitles tell completely different stories... current AIs have no chance with such cultural subtleties.

Yes... so many. Thanks for the memories. I remember OMD and Soft Cell being way better than they had to - Mark duetting with Jim Thirlwell, too? Oh... remember Classix Nouveaux? They rocked, proper, like.🤘

Formative indeed. An exciting time for music: tail-end of Glam, into Goth & New Romantic & on to Experimental. First gigs were Kraftwerk, Bauhaus & Southern Death Cult? Then I lose track of the order. But Ultravox & Toyah were early on. I have a very clear memory of Icehouse supporting Simple Minds.
