The first lecture will be held by Friederike Kind-Kovács introducing the overall topic of the lecture.
@hait-tud.bsky.socialSeveral talks also examine the role of archives and museums in preserving survivor testimonies, memory, and long-term recovery.
@hait-tud.bsky.socialThe lectures explore different sites of rehabilitation, including DP camps, hospitals, convalescent homes, care facilities, and children’s institutions as well as the work of organizations such as UNRRA, the Red Cross, and Jewish aid organizations.
@hait-tud.bsky.socialThe series approaches “healing” not solely as a medical undertaking, but as a multifaceted endeavor encompassing the tracing of survivors, family reunification, medical treatment, nursing and convalescence, emotional and psychological support, and access to education.
@hait-tud.bsky.socialAcross 13 international lectures, renowned scholars from Sweden, Germany, the US, Ireland, Norway, the UK, and Israel will present their research on different groups of survivors and their experiences with physical and psychological rehabilitation.

Frei beleuchtet Adenauers Leben kritisch aus heutiger Perspektive und verfolgt seinen Weg sowie seinen Beitrag zur demokratischen Verankerung der #Bundesrepublik.

@hait-tud.bsky.social“Wir sind das Volk” wurde zum Symbol dieser Wochen. Am Höhepunkt, dem 09.10.1989, zogen in Leipzig rund 70.000 Menschen trotz massiver Polizeipräsenz durch die Stadt. Dass die Einsatzkräfte schließlich kapitulierten, führt Kötzing auf die schiere Masse und Gewaltfreiheit an diesem Tag zurück.

Ab September 1989 mehrten sich #Friedensgebete und Demonstrationen aus der Mitte der Gesellschaft, die der Staat zu unterbinden versuchte, anfangs auch mit Gewalt.

Oktober 1990 wurde die deutsche #Wiedervereinigung mit dem Einigungsvertrag formal besiegelt und die #DDR nach 45 Jahren Teilung als Staat aufgelöst. Dieses Datum ist jedoch nur ein Meilenstein einer Bewegung, die schon viel früher begann:
