Every root tip wears a cap of cells which sheds off about every 36 h. The gene SOMBRERO helps shape the auxin gradient that keeps it orderly. Without it, cells fall off one by one. Byung-Ho Kang lab (CUHK) followed root tips for >100h on a PlantScope @the.3i.social
