We are better served if they used this power to collaborate and achieve better outcomes together. With the separation referendum 10 days out, this announcement feels driven more by politics than good policy. Calgarians should decide how Calgary grows, and I’ll keep standing for that. 4/

In 2024 she said Calgary’s rezoning bylaw was “up to Calgarians to decide.” She was right both times. Yesterday goes against both. Yes, the Province has the power to direct municipalities. But doing it this way is bad governance, risks more red tape, confusion, and more costs for taxpayers 3/

Libraries and bike lanes are the most recent examples. Not to mention noise bylaws. Before that it was photo radar, which is making our streets less safe. Now it’s planning and development. In 2011, the Premier said she believed in “local autonomy, local decision-making, and local governance.” 2/

Yesterday the Province directed Calgary and Edmonton on how our neighbourhoods should grow.

I want to be clear: my concern is not about rezoning. That's gone. My concern is a pattern of Provincial interference in local decisions, often while that work is still underway 1/ #yyc #calgary #yyccc

12 of the 50 most dangerous crossings in Calgary are in Ward 8. More than any other ward.

I ran on making our streets safer.

In June I brought a motion to put $6 million into traffic safety. Council passed it unanimously. On September 22 it cleared its final step.

What's next? 1/ #yyc #yyccc

New safety measures in the most dangerous locations plus $250k for each Ward. The program is being developed now. Once that's done you'll hear from me so we can identify the streets in Ward 8 you want to make safer 2/

And I should say that the Ward 8 Team deserves a lot of this credit as well. I'd be drowning without them and they deserve a significant amount of the credit for our efforts.

This is so kind and reading this could not have come at a better time (September was a long, long month). Thanks for taking the time to say this, typically people only take the time when they're not happy so it's an unusual and very pleasant surprise when the opposite happens!

Last year I asked what was going on with the empty field beside Westbrook CTrain station. A year later, I have answers. Apublic park, new homes, places to eat and shop. The park is what we're designing first. What do you want to see? Splash pad? Playground? Somewhere shady to eat lunch? 1/

It's recognizing and understanding tragedies experienced by Indigenous people, their families, and their cultures through the Residential School System. But it's also moving forward, remembering the past to create a better future, ours to build together as the people of Treaty Seven 2/

Today for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation I split my time between the Confluence and the inaugural Indigenous Pop-Up Care Village at the Sunalta Community Hub. Reconciliation represents our shared past and shared future 1/

It's now a tradition for me to post my trip home after late night budget hearings. Tonight, the bus, which makes my family's life easier and more affordable. We're not alone. Our budget only succeeds by understanding every family, every person, and every challenge is different. More to come.

Mondays in September can be a struggle. School, work, family, and making it work.

Balance is tough, especially with so many outside pressures.

Today, my struggle was daycare drop-off. I had to get creative with a blanket fort in the car to entice her to leave while getting to work on time 1/

Yes there's a kid under there and yes I made sure everyone was safe). No matter what you do or who you are, we all live the little things every day 2/

That's a wrap on our 2026 cleanup season, but there are still community cleanups happening across Calgary if you have items to dispose of.

Find a cleanup near you on the City of Calgary Community Cleanups page.
