Three people, including a child, drowned in the Channel today. Our politics is so broken that the debate is never about how we stop these deaths and always about how we can come up with harsher policies that make more deaths inevitable.

The Labour Party is contradictory it has always had a big connection with the working class because of its trade union affiliations. Its leaders however, generally speaking, have terrible politics. The other major parties have no such contradiction at their hearts they’re simply on the other side.
