😊 I made a game about British birdsong and time travel.
The newest level is set in #Ely, starting about 7000 years ago...
🐦⬛ Listen to birds, guess who's singing, and collect the dawn chorus.
🦻It's built for accessibility and free to play

A good policy agenda for France is to look at what every riot movement in the last 10-15 years has demanded and do the exact opposite. Raise the pension age, raise the fuel taxes, accept more immigrants, mandate vaccinations, protect Jews and POC from mob violence, lay off the cheminots.
i was doing something with this a while ago and found this really was the easiest way to work out what was a station: anything with non-zero passenger entrances or exits
If you are in the US and looking for opportunities to get into data journalism, the FT's New York team is recruiting a Summer Intern for 2027.
right but Europe is a continent filled with small countries and small countries that pretend to be big (Germany, the UK, Scandinavia). there are like three actually big ones
Belgium, Netherlands, Austria and Slovakia do pretty well
Damn I am tired of people laughing about Deutsche Bahn.
Travel in many other places in Europe and you will discover Germany is trying to do many things right with its railways. A quick blog post / rant from me:

#CrossBorderRail
For centuries, Oxford made graduates swear that they would "never consent to the reconciliation of Henry Simeonis". The odd thing was, nobody could remember who the hell he was.
In fact we organized a "rail ticketing challenge" to demonstrate the actual problems passengers face. Teams competed to find the best tickets for real world scenarios … and discovered how difficult it can be. One policy maker summed it with their exasperated "but how were we supposed to know that…"
good for them - they're not squashing and anonymising the git history. maybe it won't be the usual "code over the wall" approach
"people who are unlikely to be alive to see the benefits of short term disruption are against short term disruption" i am shocked, personally
1) teenager's parents go away for the weekend and she asks chatgpt what day the bins go out 2) her rogue ai agent hacks into the PAF. the foregone revenue causes the collapse of the universal service obligation 3) lost tax revenue from outer Hebrides postcode lottery players. the country spirals
that's probably fine then, nvidia-all is just a nice way to install older drivers. i had to find a specific one that worked well with the kernel, GPU and had CUDA support
i found nvidia-all + LTS kernel worked for me with 1080Ti github.com/Frogging-Fam...
businesses value how our DIY directory listing strips out newlines to make it easier to fit more information on a single screen environment.data.gov.uk/natural-capi...
they also appreciate how the map view starts centred on India as a reminder of our past imperial glories
Paywalling (more) public sector data is a bad idea, actually www.owenboswarva.com/blog/post-od...
New post. The marginal cost limit in the UK's RPSI regulations does not mandate #opendata – but does provide a convenient excuse for underfunding of public data infrastructure
sure, but i would be pleasantly surprised if that's the case with the SNCF it's how it works on the chemins de fer de provence. thankfully the SNCF has not yet noticed that they exist
> La montée s’effectue à l’avant du train. Une fois à bord, le voyageur doit aller informer le chef de bord de sa destination. amazing. presumably CGT vetoed "le chef du bord doit aller récolter les destinations de passagers"
unité urbaines are fine in themselves if you can work out what the british equivalent is (and i dunno) the metropolitan borough of wakefield is a political rather than statistical boundary again this is why i prefer looking at maps :)
these numbers are always basically lies. it's just whatever is convenient to help the current politicians stay in power for longer FUAs are better but Béthune will be too small to be its own but this is why i use maps
