Quoted in the Guardian today on the technical hopium that, in my experience, has become widespread among many, usually senior, climate experts.

Thanks!! Had to read it several times to spot!!! You could have just corrected me!! Yes, when outside absolute humidity LOWER!! I was visualising high outside RH with cold wet weather but abs humidity low because colder.
I'm heading to the People's Emergency Briefing tomorrow (8th Oct) for a South Herefordshire screening. www.ticketsource.com/llanwarne-vi...
Ventilation? If absolute humidity lower outside than in. e.g. warm building in cold weather. Enthalpy exchanger (ERV) can remove moisture from fresh air but only if something else is removing moisture from indoor air. I think you know this so I may have misunderstood the question? Are you using ERV?
MVHR no different to any vent in terms of moisture except you can keep it running when cold out without discomfort or high heating cost. If absolute humidity (not RH) higher out than in, then vent will lower RH indoors. Enthalpy heat exchangers can save energy with active dehumidification
Stumbled on this and assumed it was a SNL sketch!!
Model Behavior: George Saunders

Very good! How actions shape values, and why it's not the other way around. "We do not think our way into new ways of acting nearly as often as we act our way into new ways of thinking."

The Only Lasting Solution to Social Care Will Come From the Bottom-Up

Better than we feared with that many people with seats in rows! 60 buildings divided between the groups so was meant to be first pass gut reactions. Some got into a lot of detail about specific buildings and we had to pause some really interesting conversations that we hope continued after!
Workshop using the Venn diagram in The Good Building Book at the AECB conference Manchester. Placing images of buildings on the diagram in search of rare examples that achieve beauty, function and economy. Many recognised @jurajmikurcik.bsky.social ‘s house and put it in the middle!
Thanks, downloaded and will have a read. I wish I had more experience with low cost radical retrofit solutions. Frustrating that deep retrofit often ends up costing about the same as new build.
Really important hot topic. Have you written anything?
Running a workshop at the AECB conference next Friday. Should be fun assuming I've recovered from this horrid cold by then: aecb.net/wp-content/u...
Though I'm sad that our workshop clashes with @ecominimalnick.bsky.social 's session and I'll miss that.
I'm a fan of single streams at conferences! Get well soon, be good to catch up.
Writing The Good Building Book, Jon and I had students and lecturers in mind as a key audience. A number of positive reviews by lecturers and students confirm the value. Please consider adding it to your reading list if you are involved in any aspect of building.
