Access to countryside is essential to #MentalHealth and well-being. The Colne Valley Regional Park is a fantastic resource for 3m people living on the edge of #London but if it is to be preserved for the future we need your help.

Today is World Mental Health Day. Our wellbeing and mental health is key to our happiness and those around us. A great way to invest in yourself is to take a walk - it helps us relax, feel more positive and boosts our physical health too.

This is a picture of Heathrow. If you want an illustration of what the airport has done to @colnevalley.bsky.social in 80 years look no further. The rich farmland is long gone. And the erosion of the area continues to this day.

Our plea to the Government is: Get A Grip! It is still not too late for some joined-up thinking and a proper, plan-led approach to development. image © Manor Farm Propco Ltd:‘image produced by developer of how the new data centre could look - with a previously approved data centre in the background’

Communities will increasingly feel the effects of this market-led development frenzy, a modern day gold rush whose implications are not nearly well enough understood.

@colnevalley.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 10:17 AM

This is no small problem: there are plans for five data centres in #Colnbrook, nearly 20 #Iver and two in #Denham. More will follow – a direct result of the Government’s ‘grey belt’ policy and the designation of data centres as ‘critical national infrastructure’.

@colnevalley.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 10:17 AM

• A negative effect on a wide range of wildlife • Ruining views of the landscape from paths, country parks, nature reserves and residential areas. • Causing heat islands significantly increasing the ambient temperature in the area around them

@colnevalley.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 10:17 AM

Any concentration of data centres in a small area has multiple effects including: • Placing an unsustainable load on the water network and aquifers that feed our rivers and domestic taps. • Constant noise • A huge drain on electricity network

If you're involved in or helping to deliver any local river action in the Colne Catchment, it would be excellent if you can attend the ColneCAN conference. This year the Conference will be on Thursday 15th October 9am - 4 pm at St Mary's Church, Harmondsworth.

Our call for ‘A Corridor For Life’ argues that planned development can contribute towards restoration of the Colne Valley Regional Park to become one of the best green corridors in the UK. Something that residents, government and the whole country can be proud of.

@colnevalley.bsky.socialSep 29, 2026, 11:17 AM

If this area is to host so much development on such a colossal scale, failure to assess cumulative impact, amounts to a shocking disservice to the many millions of people living nearby.

As well as providing a valuable green space for local communities, the regional park offers countryside right on the doorstep for the many people who live, work & spend their leisure time locally. If your organisation would like to join SEGRO in supporting the Regional Park, please do get in touch.

We're delighted that @SEGRO plc has recently renewed its support for Colne Valley Regional Park. We are incredibly grateful to SEGRO and all of our corporate supporters, whose backing helps us protect and enhance this special landscape for everyone to enjoy.

It runs through some of the most attractive areas of the Colne Valley Regional Park and provides excellent views of the River Colne, lakes and the Grand Union Canal. #Rickmansworth #Uxbridge #Colnbrook
