✨ On September 25, science filled the streets of downtown Coimbra at the European Researchers' Night 2026! Visitors of all ages learned about the work of CiBB researchers and how these aspects of science are present in daily life through various fun demonstrations, activities and conversations.

CNC-UC has a new board for the 2026–2028 term. Ana Cristina Rego is President of CNC-UC and coordinator of the Neuroscience and Disease research area, joined by Maria Teresa Cruz and Bruno Manadas, coordinators of the Metabolism, Ageing and Disease area and Innovative Therapies area, respectively.

Today CNC-UC organizes the "Dynamic Brain Function" symposium, promoted by the DYNABrain project. It gathers neuroscience researchers and experts to discuss the field and features four internationally recognized speakers: Carmen Sandi, Richard L. Huganir, Guoping Feng and Susan Magsamen.

Researchers from CNC-UC, in collaboration with University of Aveiro, have identified changes in expression of "clock genes" associated with chronic insomnia diagnosis in a Translational Psychiatry study, and used machine learning to aid in distinguishing between healthy and insomniac participants.

🫀 Today is World Heart Day, part of a campaign by the World Heart Federation to raise awareness for cardiovascular diseases. 🎨 To mark this day, CNC-UC partnered with TUMO Coimbra to share an original illustration created by TUMOnauts Laura Oliveira and Gonçalo Costa lead by CNC-UC's Rita Félix.

At HypoxEU Live, Eva Ferro (@cnc-uc.bsky.social) showed how oxygen priming reshapes the proteome of umbilical cord MSCs from 9 donors. Resipher tracked their respiration at 24, 48 and 72 h.
