Love to see curb extensions installed near this tricky intersection by Windsor Park. We need more—wherever we know people are speeding, and wherever vulnerable road users need to cross (near schools, parks, rec centres, assisted living buildings…). #OakBayBB
What sets Anne Carson apart from her contemporaries? “She approaches language, literature and human experience with uncommon boldness.”
For @theconversation.com, Laura Jansen on the Canadian poet who won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature.
Most Oak Bay residents aren’t interested in blood sport politics or us vs them.

A moment of calm for today….
… before canvassing, working, going to our parent-teacher meeting, calling in to the ProArts Alliance forum, attending the U Vic Students’ Society candidates’ debate, and talking to voters for a couple of hours at the final CAOB candidates fair. #OakBayBC

Meanwhile? I’m out here doing the work. I don’t care that organizations in the Oak Bay Neighbourhood Network are organizing events for my opponents—I filled out their survey. I had to ask the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce three times to even get their questionnaire—but I filled it out.
Unfortunately, it seems that six of nine council candidates—who, to a person, express deep commitment to community engagement—felt “uncomfortable” interacting with Oak Bay For All because I helped to start it. They weren’t being graded. They had full control of their answers. There’s no editing.

@starkweatherforob.bsky.social on the current housing situation in Oak Bay (finally figured out captions!) Current status quo gives 2 bad options to people.
Hey #yyj! Meant Well Books, a cute new bookshop, opened today in Estevan Village. Go check it out! They already operate a book truck, and this bricks-and-mortar store looks like a lovely addition to the neighbourhood. #VictoriaBC
