🔎 Two recent studies from the Botton-Champalimaud Pancreatic Cancer Centre looked for what pancreatic cancer leaves behind, even after apparently successful surgery, from two different angles: inside the operating room and in the bloodstream.

👁️ Also, the 2026 António Champalimaud Vision Award recognised two researchers pioneering optogenetic therapies aimed at restoring vision for people blinded by retinal disease.
This year, there's a special connection to the Champalimaud Foundation: 🧠 In 2005, our Susana Lima, together with Gero Miesenböck, University of Oxford, published a seminal scientific paper demonstrating the power of optogenetics to link neural activity to animal behaviour.
👏 Congratulations to the winners of the 2026 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, recognised for their pioneering work in the development of optogenetics: a technology that uses light to control the activity of genetically targeted cells and has transformed neuroscience.
Science can be tasted, too. 🔬🍽️
