Please take a couple of minutes to read the article and understand why change must come, and why we at COLA are working so hard, together, to secure it.
We are so proud to work with campaigners like Paul and Laura. The strength and power of their words make it impossible for politicians to ignore us.
They come with a simple message: that we need a 'cost of living budget' from the Chancellor that takes this long-term, deep-seated problem seriously and makes the economy work better for us all.
That's why Cost of Living Action is coming to Westminster on Tuesday. People from across the country are going to be sharing their experiences, just as Laura and Paul did in the paper, but this time to their elected representatives.
Laura put it perfectly when she said "they call it a cost-of-living crisis, but a crisis feels like it should be short-term". We know this "crisis" is simply reality for millions across the country, and that sense of permanence is what drives us on in calling for change.
Paul and Laura, who we have been working with for the last year or so, tell their stories of the cost of living crisis with power and heart, and perfectly encapsulate all that's wrong with our economic system in just a page of text.
Today, COLA campaigners and our Day of Action are the focus of @roswynnejones.bsky.social 'Real Britain' in the Daily Mirror.
The piece is extraordinary.
📢ONE WEEK TO GO 📢
We will be in Westminster ONE WEEK TODAY, calling for a Cost of Living Budget to deal with the defining issue of our times.
Still time to sign up and make your voice heard: actionnetwork.org/events/cost-...
Thanks to @neweconomics.bsky.social, @jrf-uk.bsky.social, @endfuelpoverty.bsky.social and all of the signatories for standing together on this issue.
Government support for us all is a necessity to insulate us from the worst effects of this latest bill spike.
This winter, bills are going to be higher than they were at the peak of the Russia/Ukraine crisis.
We must all be protected from this.
COLA has coordinated a letter, telling the Chancellor and @miattafahnbulleh.bsky.social that universal support is needed.
COLA partner @waronwant.bsky.social have today released their fantastic report on profiteering and the cost of living crisis.
Its crystal clear analysis is further evidence that the government has to take proper, structural action to drive down bills and make the system work for us.

On Day One, Andy Burnham declared this the “cost of living government”. That statement faces its first big test, as we are weeks away from his first Budget.
Join us to give tell MPs what we need to see, in Westminster on 13th October.

Today inflation rose again, driven by fuel prices and rents continuing to squeeze household budgets. The budget is a chance for Andy Burnham to put words into action and truly tackle the cost of living. COLA reaction thorough @osheaconor.bsky.social:
The Prime Minister is absolutely right to defend social security, and it is refreshing to hear him do so.
Social security must reflect the cost of essentials everyone and provides a genuine safety net. We cannot break out of this cost of living crisis without it.
As Prime Minister @andyburnham.bsky.social prepares to address the House of Commons for the first time, COLA Campaign Coordinator @osheaconor.bsky.social reminds him of the potential of his pledges on social housebuilding.
