Our NETER summary report outlines why we need this measure, how it was built, who is and isn’t NETER and what action should be taken with the information it provides. It offers key insight into the labour market challenges facing people aged 50-SPA and a call to action to tackle these issues.
The story we tell about retirement is wrong. This is why we have introduces NETER: not in employment, training, education or retirement.

"That’s why we chose ‘what’s on your doorstep’ as the theme for this year’s IDOP in the UK," says our Deputy Director for Homes and Communities, Natalie Turner.
"Working with the UK Network of over 110 Age-friendly Communities, we hear the same things come up again and again as priorities. Things like getting around, staying connected, getting the help and information we need. Many of which can be solved by the right local services and features."
Join us to celebrate the people, places and services that help us to stay active and connected in our community as we age - and show the importance of removing the barriers that prevent older people from taking part.
Today marks International Day of Older People (IDOP) and the theme is "What's on your doorstep?"

Together, we're calling for NETER to become a headline labour market measure, helping government better understand who is outside work and why – and take action to support longer working lives.
Organisations from across the employment, ageing, health and wider social policy sectors have already signed our consensus statement in support of NETER.

With almost 16% of pensioners living in relative poverty, and more than a million people relying solely on the State Pension, the government must provide clear evidence that this alternative system will protect both current and future generations from poverty in later life.
Today, the government has announced plans to maintain the State Pension triple lock until 2030 before introducing a new system for how the State Pension increases each year. Any replacement must provide robust protection for pensioners who rely on the State Pension to make ends meet.
We’re grateful to all those who have added their support.
