I was pleased to lead the #PRIinPerson 2026 session on investors holding investee companies to account for responsible political engagement. I pointed to @eirisfoundation.bsky.social Social LobbyMap research for investors on how far corporate lobbying aligns with social and human rights principles.
The discussion will explore how investors can navigate corporate lobbying around sustainable investment and promote greater accountability for how companies seek to influence policy.
You can find the full programme here: pip2026.unpri.org/amsterdam/ag...
We look forward to seeing you there!
We’re also looking forward to a session featuring our trustee @richardhowitt.bsky.social, who will moderate “Let’s talk about lobbying: how investors can maintain accountability in the current environment” on:

The Directive is now moving from legislation into practice. As implementation continues across Europe, it will be important to see how the new information is used: if it helps reveal where pay inequalities persist and gives workers, representatives & others the evidence to understand them and act.
An International Labour Organization article, looking at Lithuania raises an important question about what happens next. Transparency can make inequalities visible. But its real value comes from what that information makes possible.
The EU Pay Transparency Directive is now moving into implementation. The 7 June deadline has passed, but progress across Member States remains uneven: five have fully transposed the Directive, while many are still developing their national rules.
This piece on lobbying in Australia raises a broader question: when different organisations have very different levels of access, resources and capacity to engage, whose positions are being heard most consistently? Transparency cannot remove those differences. But it can help us see them.
“The right to speak and the ability to be heard are not necessarily the same thing.”
🤔 When did we forget the true meaning of democracy?
The European Partnership for Democracy (EPD)’s When Did We Forget? initiative asks us to reflect on the principles we should continue to expect from ourselves, our institutions and those in power.
