Here's five book recs that are flying under-the-radar, but shouldn't be. Pick one, and give it a try! Don't forget to leave a review when you're done—they're a tremendous help. 😉 #BookSky

What do you call grimdark with a theme of (doomed) love woven through it? Grimantasy, apparently!

Check out Nick's fantastic review of my little novella that brings together a dark seaside gothic theme and eldritch horrors from beyond the veil.

Time had run away from me again, but I couldn’t afford to let it escape, not today... Celebrating the 5th anniversary of The Thirteenth Hour, book one in The Cruel Gods series, with a proper post! 🥳 225 5-star ratings on Goodreads, SPFBO and BBNYA finalist, Indie Ink winner!

A promo image for The Thirteenth Hour 5th Anniversary. Cruel gods demand worship from their mortal subjects in this gaslamp fantasy featuring magical portals, gothic cosmic deities, quaint Britishisms, and steampunk vibes. SPFBO 8 finalist, BBNYA 2022 finalist, and Indie Ink award 2022 for best setting and wittiest character.

The book cover to The Thirteenth Hour, Book One of The Cruel Gods by Trudie skies features both protagonists of Kayl and Quen. Kayl is at the forefront on the left and is a tall blue-skinned woman with pointed ears and wearing a Victorian-styled dark blue dress. Behind her on the right is Quen, a gentleman with pale skin, silver hair, and wearing glasses and a dark blue suit. He's also holding a pocket watch. Behind them both is a giant white clock that takes up most of the cover along with whispy-white magical strands. The colors of the cover are mostly blue and silver. There are Victorian-style street lamps in the background.

Eleanor Browne moves to Morning Star cottage on the coast after the death of her husband. The boathouse behind her cottage is significant to the story. This was inspired by a boathouse I used to pass on beach walks as a child, although it was less creepy than Eleanor's version.

The cover of Suffer Their Going by Dark-Designs. It shows a ghostly woman with dark hair gliding past a wall with ornate wallpaper. Blood drips down the wall and there is a bloody hand print. Above the book cover is text that reads A young widow clinging to the remains of her shattered life. At the book of the cover is 21.10.26 and to the side is the Silver Thistle Press logo of a thistle and their name.

Book rec time, y'all!

Acts of Deicide by LE Garrison

Won't sugarcoat it, this book is dark AF and asks a lot of questions for you, especially in terms of faith and belief. It borders a nihilistic track, but with an underpining of hope. A definite recommend for grimdark fans! #booksky

‘Hedgehogs’ went down well at Fantasycon in Glasgow. Not only did it sell out, but people came to the table asking for the book with zombie hedgehogs!

We'll likely look back upon this day as the first of the data centers to burn.

Yeah it was caught by a beta reader, but was embarrassing nonetheless.

TFW someone catches you using a Pokemon ref in a book set in 70s 🤦‍♂ Why did I write something set in the real world again??

The opening trilogy of The Hybrid Helix will be free on Amazon from October 20-24 (image just shows covers for the three books, and says free on those dates). If you don't LOVE them I'll personally give you TWICE your money back.

So it's currently empty, but more and more I've been wanting to do review videos, so if anyone wants to follow my YouTube page in advance, here it is! I've no timeline for this, but I think it'd be fun to have more indie book vlogs out there. 🤞
