The Transmitter @thetransmitter.bsky.social just published a piece on this: www.thetransmitter.org/connectome/b...

Fetching? This seems to be drilling, in case of future necessity! Serious business.

Mix. selectivity is everywhere in cortex: from vis. to PFC

This paper relates to Cover's theorem but the typical explainer kind of sucks

I'll try to explain how the theory relates to the paper, and the importance of "weird" neurons

remember that egg in a little cup on a table in Berlin… there is clearly some overlap in how our visual systems operate

OK this one too. I’ll just return to not replying to these Porsche posts of yours :)

Our paper on odour categorization in the Drosophila mushroom body is now out in Cell Reports! 🎉

We found that αβ and α′β′ Kenyon cells—but not γ KCs—distinguish food-related from non-food odours at the population level.

Very happy to see this work published! 🪰🧠

Very nice to see this extension + (most importantly) functional assay of our initial observation of non-random overconvergence of food-responsive PNs onto downstream aB and a'B' KCs (@zhihaozheng.bsky.social et al. Curr Biol 2022). Connectomics leading to testable hypotheses: as it should be!😀

Not assuming anything, I just want to know what the setting was. :)

Claude has a privacy setting for whether or not your sessions can be used to train their models. I'd like to know what the setting was in this case.

In 1917, D'Arcy Thompson drew Cartesian grids around different anatomical shapes & showed that deforming the grid could change one species' shape into that of another. We find that "reusable regulatory handles control phenotypic variation" in NCAs

Protists deserve the spotlight and so do scientists! This was such an honor but mostly, this project reminded me why I have the best job and friends/colleagues in the world! 🔬
