Today is World Mental Health Day. This year’s campaign calls for people with lived experience of mental health conditions to be meaningfully included. It will take all of us working together to improve mental health outcomes in our communities: by valuing each others’ lived experiences.

CycleWR’s survey results are here! I was a committee member helping create Kitchener’s Cycling and Trails master plan, and I support the investments our city has made in making all-season access for all ages and abilities.

Visit cyclewr.ca to read detailed responses from me and other candidates.

I’m proud to be supported as a labour-friendly candidate by the WR Labour Council! As co-owner of Full Circle Foods, I choose to uphold a certified living wage. As a member of the Better Way Alliance, we commit to fair scheduling practices and paid sick leave.

Cait Glasson is a force to be reckoned with, having helped create the first Pride event in Kitchener in 1995. I’m grateful for her past and ongoing leadership in establishing safe gathering spaces within Waterloo Region for the queer community. Thank you for believing in me! #Kitchener #WatReg

I’ve received more than 15 questionnaires, and I’ve made the time to answer all of them. It’s important for candidates to be transparent about what they hope to bring to the table, and to share those responses publicly so that voters can hold us accountable.

In Monday’s Record, Luisa D’Amato writes about the barriers candidates face in reaching our neighbours who live in apartment buildings. My campaign has been to every corner of Ward 10 and made a concerted effort to connect with voters no matter what kind of building they live in.

#kitchener

Newspaper headline, people in apartments, get less democracy than people in houses. Article written by Luisa D’Amato for the Waterloo Region RecordPeople living in houses get a chance to meet the candidate. They get a card or brochure left at the door. They can see who cared enough to stop by, and who didn’t bother to come around. People in apartment buildings are far less likely to get any of that attention. It’s disappointing to see the building manager is not aware of their responsibilities he said. This is not just someone coming in selling something. This is the Democratic process.

Centring human art is a big part of how I wanted my candidacy to show up in people's lives, and I wanted to celebrate the incredible local talent we have here in Kitchener.

Today is Truth and Reconciliation Day. This morning, I witnessed a sunrise ceremony led by Myeengun Henry. Here on Haldimand Treaty territory, I await the court case this fall that will examine how Canada and the Haudenosaunee should move forward given the history of broken promises in our region

A sidewalk sign saying national day for truth and reconciliation Myeengun Henry speaks surrounded by several flags representing Inuit, Haudenosaunee, Two-Spirit, Métis, and Every Child Matters. The anishinaabe flag is out of frame.
