The link between the official Fiction on the Web t-shirts being worn in this picture, and the silly behaviour, is correlation not causation. I promise. www.redbubble.com/i/t-shirt/Fi...

D. C. Martin's short story at Fiction on the Web was selected as "Story of the Week" in the Topiary Stories Sunday Fiction Review: topiary.code.blog/2026/10/10/s...

Huge reader reaction to T. E. Poremba's short story: "The premise of this story and its development are fascinating, as is the ending." "This was a horror story to me. The whole world turned into facsimiles and lies." "Love the black humor in this piece!" www.fictionontheweb.co.uk/2026/10/my-a...

Topiary Stories picked The Kidnappers by Cris Aboobaker as as story of the week. FotW reader liked it too: "I love this story! I love the mix of normal and I guess paranormal." "Evokes the childhood imagination." "This one is both eerie and enchanting." www.fictionontheweb.co.uk/2026/10/the-...

In Bud Pharo's short story, a synthetic woman joins a lunar mining crew. Reader comment: "This one reminded me of Harry Harrison's work. It's science fiction (with some good hard science) but with a sense of humor and some heart, as well." www.fictionontheweb.co.uk/2026/09/into...

Very grateful for @charliefish.bsky.social publishing my short story “The Coroner,” as well as the kind reader comments, particularly the one that invokes Thomas McGuane and Cormac McCarthy.

Readers praised Hank Grezlak's short story The Coroner: "A grim, disturbing story that compels the reader's attention." "This skillfully written story—terse in spots, poetic in others—reminds me of Thomas McGuane's revisionist Westerns." www.fictionontheweb.co.uk/2026/09/the-...

My buddy Jarick Weldon's brand new magazine @corollarysf.bsky.social has just published its first issue! There's also a new story from me in the Editor's Library called The Billionaires Will Eat Themselves. I've read three of the other stories so far and they are *chef's kiss* corollarysf.com

Saw The Lost Children of Tuam at the cinema. Moving docudrama about an amateur historian whose dogged research uncovered that 800 "illegitimate" children died during 35 years of systematic abuse in a religious children's home, and had been dumped in a septic tank mass grave.

Did you know that 96% of books published by the Big Five sell fewer than 1,000 copies? And did you know that stories published at Fiction on the Web get an average of 2-3,000 readers each? Usually, a bunch of reader comments too! Thank you to all our authors, readers, and commenters - we love you!

Watched Doctor Zhivago. Story of star-crossed lovers set around the Russian revolution. Interesting epic, but of the three David Leans I've seen, I preferred Lawrence of Arabia and Brief Encounter. 9th highest grossing movie of all time (adjusted for inflation).

Watched Waterworld. Basically a remake of Mad Max 2, but on the water (and therefore 58 times more expensive to film). Very cool sets and production, forgettable plot. Watch Fury Road instead.

Yay! Fiction on the Web featured in Topiary's Sunday Fiction Review as having published the best story of the week, namely "The Kidnappers," by Cris Aboobaker. "An exceptional piece of fiction!" topiary.code.blog/2026/10/03/s...

Readers loved Lily LaChance's sci-fi comedy short story, in which the Korlqar Empire's invasion of planet Earth does not go as planned. "Well crafted and very funny!!" "Great job! Really appreciate a story that is fun to read these days." www.fictionontheweb.co.uk/2026/09/firs...

Saw Digger at the cinema. Satirical comedy. Oil billionaire ignores warnings of environmental disaster until chunks of Arctic ice calve off and cause devastating tsunamis. Except it's all a play. Except it's set in a future where this did all happen. Dogmatic, heavy-handed, and incoherent.
