@flyingsquirrel.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy@Ryan Of course, to find websites and socials, @bobjonkman has all that on his poliblog site: https://poliblog.jonkman.ca/Poliblog-Elections/2026-10-26-Municipal-Election/
@flyingsquirrel.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy@Ryan As for school board, I do recommend at least glancing over candidate websites/socials. There are definitely crazy people running for school board in Waterloo, and judging by the election signs, they're the ones who have money behind them.
@flyingsquirrel.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy@Ryan The Record is doing a Vote Compass thing that might be helpful. I'm a little dubious, but it did get me to look at a couple candidates I'd previously overlooked. So that's something.
@flyingsquirrel.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy@Ryan @dtkmelissa has some suggestions in her newsletter. Not comprehensive, but Melissa's watched quite a few council meetings and I appreciate her insights.

@flyingsquirrel.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy@b0rk I knew (an obsessively nerdy amount) about git before I'd ever really used it properly and was convinced that rebase was the way to go. Then I worked on a large codebase with a very busy main and discovered that resolving conflicts with rebase in that scenario was nearly incomprehensible […]

This sounds like an equivalence, but honestly, active evil is so much worse than passive evil.
