Watched the cold war espionage film "Funeral in Berlin" this afternoon. While there a few elements that to modern eyes and ears are a little awkward, the grittiness and depth of the plot is a great antidote to some of the weirdness of the Bond franchise.

EDIT: One thing I have been struggling with with #Firefox was searching through tabs. This article kindly shared by @plwt helped

@lwflouisa That is really sad to hear. I too have a local only #forgejo instance. I do not have runners set up and have no plans to make it public, but it is still great software to use and I am still a fan of it.

The first part of self hosting is "self" - it is tech where you do you. Long may […]

I have always thought that in the "gun rack" scene in the film "Wayne's World", Wayne is really cruel to Stacey. I know that is not the joke, but she clearly cares, he could at least be pleasant about it. It was that scene I thought of when I found that I now have a Red Hat car air freshener. I […]

I had a really tech positive day in London yesterday. Most of the day was spent at the #RedHat Summit: Connect event. Great venue, good food, but more importantly some really interesting and positive sessions that were (thankfully) not an AI firehose.

I then went and bought a #RaspberryPi 3B. A […]

This is an amazing visual post. Its spawned off the old XKCD comic of the Jenga tower of online functionality all being held up by one small dependency maintained by some guy in Nebraska since 2003. We find out who "some guy" is. And it has some visuals and wonderful (and honestly terrifying at […]

@keefmarshall The main side effect is that pref is due to be removed in the future.

Just made it to my 32,000th answer in the #Mozilla Support Forums. The 2k that I have done this so far this year is far fewer than I have done in the past, but this still feels like an achievement.

Trying to think of the best way to celebrate this, and inevitably landed on this Oasis track from […]

@chris It was working for half a decade before that when we heard similar arguments against the change made give years ago.

We are still working on those other projects and more besides. This change has been "in addition to" rather than "instead of".

@chris This is the first major UI change in about half a decade.

The vast majority of changes have left functionality in broadly the same place (or not too far away).

A fair number of the people working on this update will neither be paid for it, or receive any kind of promotion because of it […]

The extraordinary Randell Jesup gave me one of the original stickers which were supposed to go on the Commodore Amiga 1080 monitors before the company decided to use the rainbow check-mark logo instead, so these were left unused. This has instantly become one of my […]

@alfonsoml In real terms, you cannot go back to the old design outside of moving to Firefox ESR, but that would update to the new design next year.

In terms of the use of colour, you may wish to try this theme - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-CA/firefox/addon/firefox-proton/

@jcrabapple Thank you. I think the new interface looks great and broadly speaking, people seem to really like it.

I have seen a fair few changes over the years and each one is accompanied by people not liking it. This is the biggest change in five years while there are some negative comments […]

Clearly I have sufficiently appeased some digital deity for not only did I get the update to the Firefox Snap on the day of release, but also this evening the #Xubuntu 26.04 LTS update landed.

Many thanks to all the volunteer contributors globally that make both projects happen.

It is a big day for #Firefox with the release of Firefox 157. I have been involved in a small part of this update for quite a few months now and I am really pleased it is available for more people to use.

This update brings some subtle interface changes as well as bringing back compact mode and […]

@charleskeener.bsky.social One of the really sad elements of this whole thing is that while at times he had a tenous grasp of democracy, Nixon still managed to be presidential.

Don't get me wrong, bad things were happening, but if you ignore what we know now that did not know then, I always get […]
