A new poll has shown the Greens' vote is on the rise! The Greens are the most popular party with young people & ahead of their state election, the Victorian Greens are polling at record highs. People want change.

The government cannot claim to be serious about climate action, to lead climate negotiations at COP, all while continuing to approve new fossil fuel projects and pretending their emissions are someone else’s problem.

@stephhodgins-may.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 1:49 AM

Authorities must now consider the environmental impacts of a project’s emissions. All the emissions.

@stephhodgins-may.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 1:49 AM

They’ve gotten away with massive destruction of our planet and environment as a result. When Australian coal is burned overseas, the climate impacts don’t suddenly disappear the way Labor likes to pretend they do.

@stephhodgins-may.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 1:48 AM

This is despite approximately 80% of our coal and gas being exported - at massive profit to those corporations.

@stephhodgins-may.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 1:48 AM

With more coal and gas giants looking to expand further, the government should be paying close attention to this verdict. The fossil fuel parties have long argued that mining corporations aren’t responsible for emissions burned overseas.

The High Court ruling is a David v Goliath victory for those people, and for communities across Australia impacted by destructive corporate operations. The Prime Minister himself said he hoped the coal corporation would win the case against locals in the Hunter Valley.

@stephhodgins-may.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 1:47 AM

The local community has spent years standing up to this massive corporation, which has been backed by the government against everyday Australians. I want to say congratulations to the two retired science teachers who spent four years challenging this massive fossil fuel company.

Today’s landmark High Court ruling is a victory for the environment and for the future of our planet. This is the first ever climate judgement from the Australian High Court and changes the game for the fight for climate justice.

@stephhodgins-may.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 1:47 AM

BREAKING: Today, the High Court ruled against MACH Energy in their appeal over the proposed expansion of the Mount Pleasant coal mine in the Hunter Valley.

If this government was serious about showing “leadership” on the climate crisis, they should start by getting their own house in order. Rule out approval of the Hunter Valley Coal expansion. End new coal and gas. And cut ties with the fossil fuel industry.

@stephhodgins-may.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 3:29 AM

As the world stares down the barrel of an historic super El Niño, the climate crisis cannot be ignored for the sake of corporate profit.

@stephhodgins-may.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 3:29 AM

No wonder the pre-conference statements from Australian representatives, along with co-hosts Türkiye, have gone out of their way to avoid even mentioning fossil fuels. No mention of fossil fuels, that tells you everything you need to know.

@stephhodgins-may.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 3:29 AM

The Labor government is hell-bent on new coal and gas across the country, including the largest coal mine expansion in NSW history just last week. You can’t claim to lead the world on climate while opening the door to more fossil fuel projects at home.

@stephhodgins-may.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 3:29 AM

Australia’s “president of negotiations” role at this year’s COP31 conference is an exercise in hypocrisy. And it’s one that an increasing number of nations are seeing through, especially our neighbours in the Pacific.

We need to give people hope that a better future is possible, and work with them to deliver it. The Greens don't accept a future designed by fossil fuel companies and we will fight every single day to make people’s lives easier.

We’re not here to reform Labor, we’re here to replace them. Together with David, I’ll fight for a democracy where corporations cannot buy themselves a louder voice than everybody else, and where bold politics delivers the funded public services we need.

As a mum of two young kids, I’m fighting to take profit out of early childhood education and care. Families deserve a truly universal system: high-quality, safe, and free care for every child, not public dollars funneled into corporate profits.

@stephhodgins-may.bsky.socialSep 30, 2026, 4:16 AM

The Greens don’t accept a future designed by fossil fuel companies and billionaires. For decades, politicians have delayed climate action while polluters profit at our expense. We will make life better starting with rapid, uncompromising climate action.

@stephhodgins-may.bsky.socialSep 30, 2026, 4:16 AM

From Greenpeace in the Pacific to taking on Woodside, I’ve spent my life fighting big polluters. I chaired the Senate inquiry demanding a 25% tax on gas exports, while rich corporations kept screwing us over because Labor, Liberals & One Nation let them write the rules.
