Thrilled that our study on a potential explanation for the lack of small-bodied non-avian dinosaurs was selected as the 'Editor's Choice' article for the newest issue of Evolution @journal-evo.bsky.social check it out here! academic.oup.com/evolut/advan...
More generally we found that: • larger species tend to sing louder • species with broader beak gapes tend to sing louder • habitat, mating system, and aerial mobility showed no clear effects
Our new paper on bird vocal amplitude is out in @sse-evolution.bsky.social !
Across 123 species, we found two new contenders for world’s loudest bird: bare-throated bellbird and seriema
Along with the white bellbird, both can reach jackhammer-level amplitudes!

With fieldwork, I didn't get to advertise our (not so now) new paper on the quantitative genetics of growth in the 🦎 in @journal-evo.bsky.social:
dx.doi.org/10.1093/evol...
It's an exciting paper paper in which we disentangle what it means to treat the whole growth curve as a function-valued trait!
Don't forget - applications for our next Reviews Editor are due on Tuesday!
SO PROUD! @brynnjohnson13.bsky.social’s paper on temp dependent competition in secondary contact zones in darters is ofFISHally out in @journal-evo.bsky.social

As an extra hurrah related to this work, I had the opportunity to paint a corresponding journal cover!
Our work exploring the drivers of color polymorphism in spiders is now available in @funecology.bsky.social. Thanks to @sse-evolution.bsky.social and @ecolsocaus.bsky.social for the support to accomplish this type of studies!
