There’s that wee @markcousinsfilm.bsky.social introducing The Story of Documentary Film - The 1990s #LFF
Gabe Klinger’s ISABEL, about the acceptance of one’s imperfections in order to progress, will play well before a blanketed sofa & a chilled bottle of Sauvignon Blanc!

Like many a madman, Ken Russell was ahead of his time with THE DEVILS. Still wields the power to shock as a weapon against hypocrisy. Oliver Reed was the most manly of men.
My review from #LFF:
THE FRIEND’S HOUSE IS HERE defies the jackboot of Iranian authorities to find joy, creativity, and a way out. Terrific.
My #LFF review:
Elsinore? El-SNORE, amirite? Anyone? *clears throat* Suit yourselves. Andrew Scott slowly taking over from Aidan Gillen to become everyone’s favourite Irish actor with no ear for accents.
Gone, I’m afraid, sorry
One of the best films of #LFF, and of the year, is CAMERON WINTER AT CARNEGIE HALL. As he approaches the apex of his worship of Jonathan Demme, it is now self-evident that there is nothing Paul Thomas Anderson cannot do as a filmmaker.
My rave review for @loudandclearrvs.bsky.social:
I used to think embargoes were things countries puts on each other’s goods when they were in a bit of a snit. Anyway, this is pretty good when every character doesn’t sound like Aaron Sorkin. Sadly, they sound like that ALL THE GODDAMN TIME.
Saw this today at #LFF. Staggering in its ongoing capacity to shock. Reed and Redgrave lead a uniformly brave cast. Sets are immaculate. Russell was insane, and staggeringly ahead of his time. As a Protestant, I felt SO SEEN.
God Moving Over The Face Of The Waters 🥲
I'm firmly in the nae camp on DIGGER, a two-hour shouting match that subverts its own attempts at satire with obnoxious hollering and pretentious filmmaking. Cruise tries to make it work while Iñárritu tries his audience's patience.

5 Favourite Irish Films The Dead Song of Granite The Quiet Girl Hunger The Committments
All the women at this screening of WICKER are having way too much fun making up tweets about Alexander Skarsgård’s wood. 🪵
I did not dig it.
Where was that? Never go there again.
Can you dig it? #NowWatching
My @loudandclearrvs.bsky.social colleagues and I pick the hottest tickets for this years’ #LFF!
Studios weaponise spoiler aversion to stop critics evaluating a film thoroughly. It’s deceptive, and frankly perverse.
My cheers for Lamine Yamal’s goal did not go down well in this London pub.
