Walked around a tree trunk with my iPhone - then took the pics and smushed them together. I might try it again. Done a bunch of things like this. Here's a better one. I blended the photos. I coulda used one of those apps, but I prefer doing it by hand.
Tomorrow - live from Binghamton: me and a bunch of particles. (Thank you Hiroki Sayama for hosting me :)
I will be presenting my particle system soon!

With all due respect, please refrain from repeating the line about us not knowing what consciousness is, used by people who also say "maybe" AI is conscious. It is not. We are. It is part of our definition. Consciousness is a biological property. It does not need to be "proven" like a math equation.
When I hear people yelling at each other, I try to stay clear until the dust settles or until a clear and reasonable voice comes along. The AI conversation is being intentionally poisoned. People who are theory-of-mind-challenged, or don't understand software are preyed-upon .

These wandering particles will soon guide the evolution of gliders in cellular automata. I will present this research at Binghamton University for Hiroki Sayama's CoCo seminar on September 30: coco.binghamton.edu

It's good to remember that we don't need to make our lives as online as possible. Quite the contrary...in this moment. Until there are free-roaming AI-powered robots with the physical agency to build killer viruses or drop bombs (getting close), we can still pull the plug. And we should...often.
