In my experience, this has been an incredibly supportive environment to build a lab. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
@mixotrophe.bsky.socialOne of my faves today. Building Chester the Cheetah's lunchtime sprint up from acceleration to distance... and understanding why we feel like the days are getting so short, so fast right now. #LetsActuallyTeachThemCalculus #figaday 5.086/n #year5
@mixotrophe.bsky.socialI know I've posted these data before, but today #wundergrad Will and I re-coded the analysis in a much more robust way, so that he can quickly re-generate the graph as he adds more data! #figaday 5.085/n #year5
@mixotrophe.bsky.socialOne of my favourite weeks of class -- surface area : volume scaling rules, and the start of differentiation/integration, this year featuring Chester the Cheetah. #LetsActuallyTeachThemCalculus #figaday 5.084/n #year5

@mixotrophe.bsky.socialNot quite at true "figure" stage yet, but prepping #UExM samples for #wundergrad Will and you can see the declines in phycoerythrin over time with starvation, from left to right, in our fixed samples. #figaday 5.082/n #year5

@dieworkwear.bsky.socialReposted by @mixotrophe.bsky.socialNeiman Marcus closed its downtown Dallas flagship on Wednesday. The store played a notable role in the history of desegregation in Dallas. Previously, Black shoppers across the US could enter department stores, but they weren't allowed to try on clothes without adhering to certain conditions. 🧵

@mixotrophe.bsky.socialWe updated our lab values (moellerlab.org/values/) and our lab membership (moellerlab.org/members/) for the year. It's sad but joyful to say "goodbye" as lab members head off on new adventures. But we're looking for new friends! Get in touch to join us as a technician or as a postdoc!
@mixotrophe.bsky.socialOne of my faves. We review a whole bunch of functions, their equations, their graphs, their intercepts and limits... and then students categorize figures from the literature and come up with explanations for why biology makes these shapes! #LetsActuallyTeachThemCalculus #figaday 5.080/n #year5
