A bit of #GameDev today in preparation for #LudumDare next weekend. I started a major refactor of my dialogue graph editor after the last one I participated in (57 I think), but fell off it in May after biting off more than I could chew. Now I have no idea where I was with it :try_not_to_cry:
@mntmn I thought it was about treepanation
My latest @newscientist.com cartoon
As a middle-aged man, I quite enjoyed it, some bits were very funny. It just would have been the exact same movie without the Mattel sticker on it.
The Matchbox movie seemed like quite a cynical collection of things and people middle-aged men would have liked when they were kids: toy cars, gun fights, John Cena, Jessica Biel... And then it's also an ad for Leatherman utility knives, which I guess middle-aged men are supposed to like now.
I have so many games I haven't played, but for some reason all I want to do is play another game of XCOM
Ok hear me out...
Ok hear me out...
The Kazakh flag fuckin' rules. I wish the Irish flag had an emblem on it (would probably be a harp, much less cool than a sun and an eagle but still) and some celtic knot stuff.
People talking about Irish spelling being "weird" because the pronunciation of certain letters or groups of letters differs from their expectations as English speakers will never not get my hackles up
Once again I have reached a point with this where I simply do not want to continue. I will try to push through this time because it is much further along than the pixel art version was...
My favorite thing about AI is that it's the only industry where its CEOs are constantly putting out statements saying "Our product could do terrible things. It could make the world so much worse. Our product could ruin everything you once loved."

Von der Leyen really is an easy mark for tech bros.
Bubbles!
"The same people demanding a slowdown right now are the same people who have spent the better part of a decade trying to encase the world in amber! These companies don’t want to build the future, they want to make a machine that randomly assembles scraps of the past forever. That’s their whole […]
@tante “OpenAI and Anthropic are publicly asking for slowdown in AI research,” one user wrote. “Translation: We see this technology not being any more useful than what it is now, no AGI is coming, and the first one to accept this and slow down the dollar burn rate will incur the wrath of the […]
So many changes since my last update. Finished the tower maybe? Might do more on the top floor, but maybe not. Embiggened the closest whale. Pants on the lady on the right. Hair highlights and hand details.
I'm going to have to do the rest of the tower now amn't I? I really want to start on foreground details like bubbles but there's loads I should do before that sort of thing.
