Good company. @jeffchon.bsky.social @ljabouttown.bsky.social and others.
Two champs in the ring.
Critic @davidcollard.bsky.social kicks off a series of conversations with authors and publishers on the state of criticism, small presses and the reception of a certain novel. First up is @cdrose.bsky.social, author of We Live Here Now, winner of the Goldsmiths Prize.
Delighted to receive a copy of Abdelwahab Meddeb's "Returns to Marrakesh / Retour à Marrakech", translated by Claudia Esposito & Laura Reeck @syracuseup.bsky.social. Last year, I had the chance to read and write a blurb for this fascinating #travelogue press.syr.edu/supressbooks... #AbdelwahabMeddeb

More of this sort of thing.
Love to read a review that thinks *with* an excellent novel. (But I loved The Isle of Truth and will hear none of this 'flaw' talk)
Good of @vol1brooklyn.bsky.social to cover the Metropolitan Review piece on The Coast of Everything today (or yesterday . . . time zones . . . )

This is a very thoughtful and thumpingly supportive review from Eric Bies at The Metropolitan Review. The parts Eric liked least are the parts a number of others have liked most . . . if there's one thing my work doesn't engender, it's consensus.

Envy you this!
Wild Rose! This will be GOOD.
There’s an irony in the inference increasingly in recent reviews of fiction that a writer should just continue to write the same book when what we’d all like is some of the repetitive and predictable lack in reviews to cease. Not least because we have so few of them these days, ideas are imperative

It's National Poetry Day and yes, it should run for a week, or a month, or even longer. Here's my book about reading one short poem very closely for a year - and what a poem! www.saggingmeniscus.com/catalog/a_cr...
