PLOS will contribute code, expertise and ideas upstream, strengthening shared open-source publishing infrastructure.

@janewayolh.bsky.socialJaneway assigns and manages DOIs automatically in its workflow. For Crossref at the point of publication and for Datacite we create a draft DOI at acceptance and live at pub. Both will push ORCID, ROR and FundRef data when collected. If a journal publishes a JATS file we also push references
