Looks like my weird ladder climbing deck builder (5 of a Kind) is sharing a campaign with some good looking games!
You’ve got a day and change left to back grind of the show Jon Perry’s Party House on kickstarter for anyone interested. We are big fans of the video game version over here. (No. I’m not talking about a BGA implementation for once.)
First, it captures the feel & humor of the videogame but lets you play up to 4 players and away from any screens. Second, there's enough differences in rules & content that it can almost function like a sequel. If you've "exhausted" the videogame, then here's a bunch of new toys to play with it.
What’s the party house board game pitch for people who know and love the UFO50 game?
Instantly backed this. The version I played at HistCon North this summer was excellent and apparently it continues to be improved by the team. We'll have episode of @decisionspace.bsky.social tomorrow with @colewehrle.bsky.social talking about the economic/business game heritage of this one.
Thanks for indulging us in this recording. What a weekend it was!
When I first got this game I only reached for it at the upper end of the player count because it is the rare game that can play 6. What I missed is how great it plays at 4, where it still has the core donkey space scramble fun, but also engages my strategy brain in a much more satisfying way. -Jake
