Say what you will about the tenets of Suella Braverman's politics, but she is making academics everywhere feel pretty good about the sales figures for their niche monographs.

I truly admire my 6 year oldā€˜s year on year commitment to putting ā€œan airplaneā€ on his Christmas list

At every performance I tried my best and every performance someone would come out holding my head. It’s actually not at all unlike academia.

So looking forward to seeing academic pals at Prof. William Whyte's Ben Pimlott Lecture on Tuesday!

(It's now sold out, so if you've reserved a ticket but happen to know you can't attend, do cancel your spot so it can be released to the waiting list)

Burnham's speech marks perhaps the best opportunity to replace First Past the Post since 1918.

I joined @jonathanfreedland.bsky.social & @lucyfisher.ft.com recently on "The Long View" to explore the history of electoral reform in Britain - & the lessons we might learn.

New from History UK: a valuable and interesting survey of UK history students use of and attitudes towards GenAI in HE teaching - their preliminary report is published today: bit.ly/4hatsRR

The report is by Dr Sarah Jones and Dr Simon Peplow @simpep.bsky.social #skystorians

Opening page of History UK's statement on their survey and report on AI and History Students in UK universities. Full text:

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become impossible to ignore in higher education. For historians, working in a discipline which depends on interpretation, evidence, and critical thinking, the development of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) has raised particularly significant questions. In 2026, we launched a survey to gather the perspectives of people who are often overlooked in considerations of the impact of AI and appropriate responses – history students themselves.

agreed! My 30s diet thus far features an unexpectedly large number of Organix oat bars (dry, small, do not recommend)
