This one I’m a little mixed on as well. Parts of it feel a little chaotic for me, almost like some of the Outside/Earthling songs, but didn’t infect my brain quite like those. *Killer* chorus though.

I like this song. It’s got an interesting tone to start, some evocative lyrics & then a great chorus, but reading up on it revealed to me that this song was co-written by a fan named Alex Grant, who won 1/2

Bowie made a demo with only “la-la” verses. The winner wrote the first verse and got to provide backing vocals! This video includes the demo, followed by a TV segment about it! 2/2

I really like this one. It's long, but I don't feel it while listening. Just a nice groove and those dreamy sort of lyrics. "dreaming my life" versus "dreaming my life away" is a fun exploration.

I haven’t always got the space to talk about all of Bowie’s collaborators but worth noting that this whole album was co-written by Reeves Gabrels & this song was originally planned for his solo album. Lovely romantic 1/3

After Outside and Earthling, I kinda didn’t expect this conventional ballad. It’s nice though. Per the old rhyme, Thursday’s Child “has far to go”. Also inspired by Eartha Kitt’s autobiography of the same name.

Interesting. Yesterday’s song was more conventional & this is a hybrid of typical song structure but keeping some of the more unusual sounds from the last couple of albums. A sad breakup song. I dig it.

This version adds a lot of strings and piano, giving a bigger operatic feel. It’s fun, but I kinda prefer the comparatively streamlined version. 2/2
