more americans think trump has prioritized his own business interests (87%) than he has people like them (46%). can’t imagine why..

Bar chart titled "Few see Trump as prioritizing the country or people like themselves since taking office in 2025." It shows the percentage of adults' perceptions, categorized by party—Republican, Independent, Democrat—on how much they believe Donald Trump prioritizes personal interests, friends and family, the country overall, or people like them. Data suggest varied levels of perceived prioritization. Source: AP-NORC poll conducted in September 2026.

Interesting question whether Elon’s effort to blame the Trump team is correct.

Should read the whole thread. When Stand Up for Science, usually a relentless advocate for science, shows why a study should NOT be done, it’s time to listen.

I am already a big fan of @wellerstein.bsky.social and @matthew-bunn.bsky.social so no surprise I was enthralled. Alex seems to know more about this subject than any person alive.

Ukraine is striking refineries to make Russia’s war of aggression unsustainable. Russia is striking Ukraine’s energy system to put millions of civilians in the cold and the dark through a bitter winter. But for Trump, It’s Ukraine’s strikes that have to stop. Unconscionable.

The incompetence and malice of agreeing to buy Russian diesel, demanding that Ukraine stop refinery attacks while Russia rains missiles on Ukraine’s energy sites, and then announcing an energy ceasefire that neither side had actually agreed to is just stunning. Can we survive 2 more years of this?

UK PM won't admit this "Foreign politicians talk about Russia's interference in elections and referendums around the world. In fact, the matter is even more serious: Russia interferes in your brains, we change your conscience, and there is nothing you can do about it."

Immediately after Ukraine took out two of the five data centers run by the Russian tech giant Yandex, pro-Trump and pro-MAGA posts on American social media sites plummeted. The same happened to posts boosting Germany's far-right AfD. Russia is engaged in MASSIVE election interference.

Trump is telling Americans that Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil facilities is the reason diesel prices are high. THAT IS A LIE. Ukraine's attacks had no perceptible impact on diesel prices; Trump's Iran war is the cause of the spike. Here's the data, straight from the Trump Administration itself.

One day after the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and the National Association of Evangelicals came out against the Pentagon’s plan to livestream an execution, Pope Leo has published a tweet reiterating the Catholic Church’s opposition to the death penalty.

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption.

It's getting less attention bc it was a long time ago, but Navi Pillay was also an absolute trailblazer in the fight against Apartheid in South Africa, winning a ruling that brought those incarcerated on Robben Island, including Mandela, the right to counsel. She knows apartheid when she sees it.
