Manitoba has the highest workplace injury rate in Canada. According to the Manitoba Federation of Labour (of which IFPTE Local 161 and IFPTE Local 162 are affiliates) the province’s 2025 time-loss injury rate was 25% higher than any other province and more than 60% above the national average.

IFPTE urged the House Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) Committee and Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee to reconcile the House-passed bill (h.r. 9497) with the Senate EPW Committee approved bill (S. 4949) and include IFPTE priorities.
