I read @ldlewiswrites.blacksky.app's The Fae Island Incident, 1892 from @fiyahlitmag.bsky.social l's Forged in FIYAH! anthology. She hits my weakness for complex worldbuilding with an emsemble cast. It's quite the balancing act.
I read @yvettel.bsky.social's Worry Dolls from @fiyahlitmag.bsky.social's Forged in FIYAH! anthology. An exploration of being BIPOC in a wyt institution, as well as getting unwanted "help."
Y'all say you support Black writing. Put y'all damn money where your mouth is. @fiyahlitmag.bsky.social is one of our most important journals publishing speculative work by Black writers established as so for a while, & @tonyarmoore.com is my mutual & my comrade as a Black writer, so cop this shit.
One of several gems from the Forged in FIYAH anthology that we'll share over this weekend! @tonyarmoore.com's vivid worldbuilding is in full effect in her story 🔥
I read @ebonidunbar.bsky.social's The Possibility from @fiyahlitmag.bsky.social's Forged in FIYAH! anthology. Strong worldbuilding and characterizations help fuel the emotions of the story. Plot wise, I was not expecting (redacted.)
A special Friday indeed when we get to rave about the OG and architect of the magazine herself, the incomparable @ldlewiswrites.blacksky.app! Check out a snippet from her original short piece "The Fae Island Incident, 1892"!
My first story set in my home of San Diego! The inspiration for this was a Twitter post I saw from a white pagan years ago who said with all seriousness “you can’t accuse me of oppression because I was a Black slave in a past life”.
Pleased to gift you with more phenomenal work from our very own @brentclambert.bsky.social 🔥🔥🔥 Scoop the Forged in FIYAH anthology today for this and more Black SFF from some of today's finest voices!
We especially love lifting up all the authors who've taken time away from their own projects to allow FIYAH to exist. Thank you, Tonja! Y'all give her a follow and support her upcoming novel 🖤🖤🖤
Just ONE WEEK before we get to celebrate the Forged in FIYAH anthology release!!! Check out our latest featured author, @veronicaghenry.bsky.social
There's so much LABOR happening behind the scenes of FIYAH that goes unrecognized. It's an honor to make space for and share work from the staff who've allowed us to publish Black SFF over these past ten years. Thank you, @emmaliawrites.bsky.social!
I read @brentclambert.bsky.social's We Got Options from @fiyahlitmag.bsky.social's Forged in FIYAH! anthology. It begins by skewering "progressive" microagressions, before morphing into (spoilers!)
I read @tobiogundiran.com's On the Origin of Species from @fiyahlitmag.bsky.social's Forged in FIYAH! anthology. It examines obsession and what it costs.
I read @tonyarmoore.com's The Nth Verse from @fiyahlitmag.bsky.social's Forged in FIYAH! anthology. It blends "ocean" adventure, found family, and moral complexity.
