Heh, well, my guideline is that the it should be possible to configure a game such that the smallest text is as large as movie subtitles would be shown at. If it’s meant to be playable from the couch anyway. And so many games with talented designers working on them still fail to meet this bar.

@runevision.bsky.socialOct 13, 2026, 8:05 PM

Accessibility-wise, the text on the left being way smaller than the text on the right seems troublesome. Even if you implement UI scaling, you’ll probably use the same factor for everything, and then getting the small text big enough to be readable will make the larger text huge.

I’m not sure what you mean by post-pass. There is no manual work or fix-ups if that’s what you mean. Everything is procedurally generated at runtime.

Yeah, thanks!

Nice! I wonder if there's an aerial photo of Lake on the Mountain where its elevation is clearly apparent? It was a bit hard to see in the pictures I could find.

I'm working on lakes for my procedural landscape. So far the terrain just continues down under the water with trees, grass and all. But just having the ground and water surface generated such that the water edge is never above-ground was a hard-won achievement. 😅

Games by Angelina was (is?) a real research project by @mtrc.bsky.social but has little in common with either the joke or Unity's real project.

Everyone is being so polite, not pointing out my failure at basic arithmetic. Anyway, glad you’re enjoying my silly old prescient blog post from, err, 14 years ago, I think.

Someone suggested that I make a forest out of the procedural trees that I made for GIC. So here it is. A forest walk, but the parameter range gets gradually wider. Don't mind the low view distance, the trees aren't optimized at all 😅

Eh, it's a chance to poke fun at this

@runevision.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 9:13 AM

I wouldn't worry about that, in this case

The details here are almost eerily prescient. Mining stuff off the internet? Check. Casual mention of extra labor for training? Check. Poking fun at a lack of talent and the unoriginal result? Check!

Did you know that Unity announced this feature more than 16 years ago? Yes, all the way back on April 1st, 2012:

I made it possible to make sloped walls in my relaxing building game 🌳🏡Island architect🏡🌳

Starting to really feel like the buildings system is coming together, with a good balance of flexibility and it just doing the sensible thing for you.

Not occult, but I just realized that every interval, except the octave, produces suspense if you walk up or down the piano with it.

@runevision.bsky.socialOct 8, 2026, 8:30 AM

I only know of the tritone, but I assume you also already know about that.

@runevision.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 7:39 PM

Yes, infuriatingly, this has been the norm for some years, with way more noise pollution as a result. I think part of it is that phone manufacturers stopped including headphones with phones, and many people then just never buy any. And another reason is generations who never used old school phones.

If you want input on procedural generation, the best places I know are the procedural generation subreddit and the ProcJam Discord server.
