Strap in everyone for one of our best FTE/500YD eps (imho) as we discuss one of the greatest stories of all time which through repeats and a certain LP version defined the series for a generation. Coincidence? I think not!

This week, Nathan, Peter, Simon and Corey are sent back in time on a mission to prevent Doctor Who fandom from concluding that the brilliance of Genesis of the Daleks is somehow not the result of the brilliance of Terry Nation.

That's actually not a bad idea for a season of 500 Year Diary. I'll tell @ohjamessellwood.bsky.social. Thanks for the suggestion.

Throwback to 2021, 1400 episodes ago, when I didn’t know Mark (my partner in crime) or Nathan (my podcast husband). How things have changed!

This week we hit Death to the Daleks. It’s amazing what you can do bombs in Doctor Who. Listen below! (And listen to the VERY END!)

It's Who at its most typical: a stranded space expedition is so beset by natives and Daleks that it can fill 4 episodes with daring sacrifices and human escapes until the generically mandatory explosion comes along to set everything to rights.

Our journey through Terry Nation’s Doctor Who oeuvre continues with Planet of the Daleks. I have mixed views of this story. Much to recommend but also doesn’t meet the potential it has. Hear the longer version below!

kind of thought the powysverse compendium was just going to be a list of stuff; turns out this book is fire

Excerpt from the Space: 1999 Powysverse Compendium: "One could argue that Helena Russell is the most emotionally complex, and perhaps the most misunderstood, character in Space: 1999. Like Eleanor Rigby, she wears a face that she keeps in a jar by the Medical Centre door. Unlike the Beatles anti-heroine, we know who it is for - it's for herself, and her own emotional protection."
