Climate at SCOTUS: The US Supreme Court heard arguments in Suncor v. Boulder, one of dozens of climate accountability lawsuits brought by states, local municipalities, tribes, and people against oil companies for the harm climate change has wrought. buff.ly/kYvixEK
Attn: climate/energy reporters — EPA will propose a rule gutting methane standards in "days not weeks." @fieldnotes.co just posted our briefing on how the oil & gas industry has been working behind the scenes w/ the Trump admin to get this done.
A must read from @insideclimatenews.org, reporting on previously undisclosed docs in a consumer fraud case against Exxon brought by Massachusetts, a case that is deep into discovery 👀
new story from me and @emdashsanders.bsky.social:
Attorneys for oil companies tried to convince SCOTUS that climate lawsuits should be stopped. Their arguments could reach into state-level cases against powerful industries beyond just oil and gas.
Yesterday, wildfire survivors, ranchers, and young people from Colorado came together outside the Supreme Court to rally behind Boulder’s case against Suncor and Exxon.
Here’s what they said:

I stared at Justice Kavanaugh for ~2 hours (only justice I could clearly see from my nosebleed SCOTUS seat) during the first case of the term: a hugely consequential bid by Big Oil to kill climate lawsuits
Here's @rebleber.bsky.social and my take on what happened pointsourcenews.org/boulder-exxo...
Args just wrapped up for the first case of the term!
Legal experts tell me oil companies' Supreme Court bid to stop this case could reach way further than climate, threatening states' historic ability to hold companies accountable for deception and harm to their residents. I'll be at the court tomorrow covering the arguments. Stay tuned
A glimpse into the stakes of Monday's SCOTUS arguments in Suncor v Boulder for just one community: Colorado ranchers, whose livelihoods have been wrecked by fires & drought. Ranchers depend on local govt services -- unless govts can recover climate costs, they say they may not be able to continue
The oligarchs are coming for every last tool the American people have ever used to restrain corporate abuse, deception, and overreach. It's a huge new front in the right's push for elite impunity, and it's not getting enough attention. For @newrepublic.com.

NEW - Conservative orgs are filing records requests by the dozens at public universities, demanding documents from climate researchers. @lesleyclark.bsky.social @corbinhiar.bsky.social & I have uncovered more than 100 requests, a campaign targets/allies say is an effort to derail climate litigation
plus, @thelisagraves.bsky.social weighs in on Justice Alito's last minute recusal from the case
Next week, SCOTUS will hear args in Boulder's climate lawsuit that says oil giants deceived the public about the dangers of burning fossil fuels & should pay for local damages.
A few things to know, ft my convo with @ishan-thakore.bsky.social @lesleyclark.bsky.social @alejandrocamacho.bsky.social
ultimately I think none of us really have any clue why he did it after saying he wasn't going to or what it could mean, but we really need binding ethics laws and disclosures for the freakin highest court in the country
WOW
welp...
