Yes! It's such a lovely piece of news to discover amidst all the non-lovely pieces of news. I love Anne Carson's work.

Anne Carson won the Nobel Prize in Literature! Hip, hip hooray! :-) :-) :-) [I love her work]

Update from the reading front: about to undertake the second most important task to prepare for a trip -- choosing what books to take. [The most important task is sorting out pet care. In this instance, happily for the pets, two of the household will still be home.]

Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen, if you’re okay with the fact that the society was sexist (but not, I think, the author). I read mostly SFF but a lot of it has trauma/pain. Oddly a SFF murder mystery I read recently, A Death at the Dionysus Club, by Melissa Scott+Amy Griswold, felt relatively light!

Update from the reading front: the second night recently that I've stayed awake very late, reading in bed. I thought I had grown a little more disciplined over the years, but I am sliding back into old ways. [The book, for those wondering, is Hedesa, part of Rachel Neumeier's Tano series.]

Oh dear, now I feel bad for not mentioning other authors whose novellas I've loved: Neon Yang, Becky Chambers, Nnedi Okorafor, Kelly Barnhill, T. Frohock, Aliette de Bodard, Ray Nayler, Ursula K. Le Guin, Ben Aaronovitch, Annalee Newitz. [I shall crawl back under my shell now. Please ignore me.]

I should probably stop, but... The River Has Roots - Amal El-Mohtar Thornhedge - T Kingfisher Point of Knives - Melissa Scott Untethered Sky - Fonda Lee Linghun - Ai Jiang Portrait of a Wide Seas Islander - Victoria Goddard Desdemona and the Deep - CSE Cooney Sisters of the Vast Black - Lina Rather

+ The Gate that Locks the Tree - Sharon Lee+Steve Miller All Systems Red - Martha Wells Cast in Moonlight - Michelle Sagara The Sunken Mall - KD Edwards Even Though I Knew the End - CL Polk [I decided not to allow myself more than one per author and not to repeat the authors in the C. J.'s post]

If you see this, recommend a short book: hortus animarum - Sienna Tristen The Empress of Salt and Fortune - Nghi Vo Penric's Demon - Lois McMaster Bujold The Practice, the Horizon, and the Chain - Sofia Samatar The Forest God - Jamie Lackey [yes, I know it's more than one but I love short books]

I just voted! [By mail. Allegheny County, Pennsylvania in case you are wondering.]

Thank you!!!

Thank you! :-)
