The Supreme Court heard arguments from Suncor v Boulder. The City of Boulder is suing Suncor & Exxon Mobil for lying about the harms of fossil fuels, & to make them pay for the resulting climate damages. More than 1 in 4 Americans now live in a community that has taken oil companies to court.

Today, the Supreme Court heard arguments for Boulder, Colorado's lawsuit against two oil companies.

Our coalition showed up outside the court and made it loud and clear: the dire effects of climate change are here, and oil companies should bear the financial responsibility. #MakePollutersPay

It’s simple: You shall not knowingly pollute your neighbors’ land, water, or air—nor shall you lie & deceive about doing so—but if you do, you must pay for the damages you have caused.

WE DID IT. The reversal comes just a week before the Court hears oral argument on October 5th and months after the Court told reporters that Alito had no financial interest in any party and that his recusal was not required. We have pushed for his recusal since the spring.

#BigOil knew burning fossil fuels would lead to widespread devastation.

Polluters (and the politicians that subsidize them) all have names and titles.

It’s time to hold them accountable.

🚫 Big Oil wants the U.S. Supreme Court to stop the case. 👨‍⚖️ The Justices have their own ties to the oil industry. Nearly a quarter of Justice Alito’s personal portfolio is oil and gas stock.
