Atlanta friends! Come out day after tomorrow--so, Sunday, October 11th, at 4 PM--to see me and @mattpolprof.bsky.social chat about my (and @mikejbeggs.bsky.social and @sunraysunray.bsky.social's!) new book "The Blueprint: How Socialism Can Work in the Real World" at A Cappella Books.
If by any chance you live in or near Buffalo and aren't in Ian's class, Buffalo DSA is hosting me for a book event tomorrow night--so, that's Friday, October 9th at 7 PM at Burning Books on 420 Connecticut St.
I visited Ian Olasov's Social Philosophy class at the University of Buffalo this morning. The students had read the first three chapters of The Blueprint so they came with many, many questions. I got to talk a little Erik Olin Wright. The whole thing was a very good time.
I don’t live in NYC so he’s not my mayor, but what he’s become for all of us is the de facto president of the better version of America struggling to be born (an office previously held by Bernie Sanders).
Definitely the place where we got the most substantive pushback on some points but we (ok, mostly Mike!) held our own.
It’s only the halfway point of my 2-week mini-book tour of the East Coast, but sadly this is the last stop I did with our genuinely brilliant Econ prof co-author Mike Beggs—we did a presentation on The Blueprint for the economics department at UMass-Amherst.
Some pictures from the NYC Blueprint event:
@sunraysunray.bsky.social, @mikejbeggs.bsky.social, and I are in @jacobinmag.bsky.social today with an essay adapted from the first chapter of The Blueprint, explaining why opposition to capitalism has to come attached to serious answers to concerns about the economic viability of transcending it.

So I've had a crazy couple of days. It's not stopping. Thursday I went to New York, I was at the @jacobinmag.bsky.social book launch for the new book from @benburgis.bsky.social @sunraysunray.bsky.social and Mike Beggs.
Looking forward to this!
Fantastic book launch last night in LA. Really fun doing this with Mike and Meagan, we got great questions, and best of all we sold all the copies in the box they sent us so Mike and I don't have to find room in our luggage when we fly to NY in a couple of hours for Stop #2.
Bhaskar and Mike and I are in @jacobinmag.bsky.social today with an article previewing one of the core arguments of The Blueprint:
If you're in Atlanta on Sunday, October 11th Ill be discussing The Blueprint by Mike Beggs and @sunraysunray.bsky.social with co-author @benburgis.bsky.social
At Acapella Books.
This is a great review of The Blueprint--sympathetic, clear, gets what we're doing, and really thoughtful where he disagrees.
I regret to inform you that you can no longer pre-order The Blueprint. You have to just...order it.
Los Angeles friends! The book launch for The Blueprint is TOMORROW. Come see me and Mike Beggs at 512 N. Hoover Street in Silver Lake at 7 PM on Tuesday, moderated by the great Meagan Day:
About to go live to chat a bit about the book that's dominated the last six years of my life and is finally coming out TOMORROW.
Two days!
