I remember seeing this band during a free show on @ucberkeleyofficial.bsky.social campus when I was a freshman. This song made me a fan.

I am reminded of my visit to the @LegacySites in Montgomery, AL this summer and how this country has a history of public executions. This is nothing new. legacysites.eji.org/about/memori...
We just got our fiscal report card back for FY2026 from @USCBO and it's not good. We estimate the U.S. brought in 16.7% of GDP in revenue and spent 19.4% of GDP on programs — producing a non-interest deficit of 2.6% of GDP. Net interest came in at a record high 3.5% of GDP. 🧵
During Latinx Heritage Month, we celebrate the rich history, culture, & contributions of Latinx and Hispanic communities. We also recognize that policymakers should take action to provide these communities w/ tangible support. One clear policy step: Expand the Child Tax Credit.

When Trump empowered the Department of Government Efficiency to gut the federal workforce, thousands of Black women lost their jobs. It also gutted the well-being of the Black women who hold up the majority-black D.C. community. https://bit.ly/4hxqrv3

September jobs data is out today, and CBPP's @gbenga-ajilore.bsky.social has the latest insights and analysis.
Taken altogether, this is an okay reading for the labor market, but in the broader context below-inflation wage growth is sign why affordability is a continuing concern, particularly given the administration’s harmful cuts to SNAP and health care access. (/end)
While there is no evidence to date that AI has led to job displacement, a recent analysis by the Stanford Digital Economy Lab finds a 19% gap in employment for young adults in AI-exposed jobs. (6/7) digitaleconomy.stanford.edu/news/canarie...
One general concern in the labor market is the possible impact of AI on youth employment. The unemployment rate for college educated youth between the ages of 20 and 24 has been rising for past few months. (5/7)
Looking at LFPR & EPOP for prime-aged folks (age 25-54), both measures rose this month. These measures are slowly recovering after a drop in June. (4/7)
The Black unemployment rate jumped a full percentage point this month. Participation rose, but the job finding rate did not rise to the same extent leading to the rise in unemployment. (3/7)
