Tbh I was surprised he said yes!
Just landed in LA for the premiere of MUSK. Doing some Q&As in Burbank and Century City this weekend. Come see it! It's a lot, but it's good. youtu.be/eY_8SyndC10?...
look I just don't think you're ready for the power of this fully armed and operational battle station
It's important to remember that the AI doom scenario assumes not only that intelligence is a single well-defined thing, but also that intelligence solves literally every single problem, and that in every conflict overwhelming intelligence always wins. This is just not how anything works.
Yep. Yet AI bros still say direct capture of CO2 would solve climate change in a few *hours* with a smart enough AGI. Total nonsense. Also we're "smarter" than CO2 molecules but that doesn't mean they can't kill our entire civilization

Yeah, exactly, and the AI bros really don't understand that at all.
Not far off at all. That's Mount Langley in the distance there.
Anyhow, don't listen to me. Turn off your phone, step away from screens, go out into the complicated world and touch grass. It's pretty nice out here.
Intelligence is not a universal solvent. It doesn't fix everything. The people pushing these ideas only believe this is true because they desperately want it to be true. They want the world to be much, much simpler than it actually is. But we live in a complicated world, and that's a good thing.
Same thing goes for the AI utopia/accelerationist/singularity story, which is basically the same as the AI doom story. There are plenty of problems that don't yield to increased intelligence. A lack of intelligence is not why we have a climate crisis or no durable peace in the Middle East.
I am smarter than a bear A bear would still murder me in a fight I am also smarter than an Ebola virus but that wouldn't help me too much if it infected me

Sam Altman said people are just gonna have to die in order to implement AI. In the very same week, Anthropic claimed itâs a human rights violation to be mean to the computer. These people need to be held accountable. They think lines of code are a person with rights but living people are debris.
Over the past year, Anthropic has repeatedly flirted with the idea that its AI models could be conscious in some way. In February, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said on a podcast, âWe donât know if the models are conscious.â
ok this is genuinely fascinating, thank you! but the point still stands that these objects are total fucking failcakes at holding on to the two most abundant elements in the entire universe and are therefore not planets in any meaningful sense they're just mildly large rocks
Thanks (and I'm sorry)
tbh, no, I've been too busy to host a dinner party and I am not much of a drinker myself
