Drawing on a large UK cohort study we find that the share of immigrants in one’s neighbourhood and school during adolescence predicts favourable attitudes toward immigration up to two decades later (1/2)
@pavlosvas1.bsky.socialThe effect is net of parental characteristics in adolescence & individual / residential characteristics in adulthood. It remains robust in an instrumental variable design (immigrant enclave shift-share instrument) Importantly, the paper title comes from a Bruce Springsteen song after my insistence
