I wrote "John's Oven" in 1995 when I was a member of my first writing group. It holds up after 30 years. I revised it, slightly, in 2019. The Magnolia Review published it in print only.
It is now online for the 1st time - on my Substack!

Please read “What the Book Still Says.”

Nigerian writer Obongodu Paul Unanam's work feels familiar even though it takes place in a distant land. His story explores bureaucratic absurdities & tackles issues of identity, aging, & the struggle to maintain the self.

Today, Doric Literary publishes, “San Luis,” by @melissacuisine.bsky.social, which combines fiction, travelogue, and time travel. It was inspired by a song and will take you to many Saint Louises: across borders, generations, and planets. #Cli-fi #GoogleMaps

“Hold Still” by PeterDeMarco is an evocative, whirlwind romp through '70s suburbia, written in a brash, unique, and compelling style. It has everything: thwarted love at the bowling alley, acting classes, a Trans Am, the Bronx Zoo, a disco brawl & so much more.

I need a trait that fits my character for a scene, Eddie said.

I thought acting was about memorizing lines and coming up with fake emotions.

He picked me up in a Trans-Am. Disco music thumping. We got to go dancing sometime, he said.

Thanks to @doricliterary.bsky.social for publishing my latest fiction, part travelogue, part time travel? Inspired by the song San Luis by Gregory Alan Isakov and a spot close to home.
