A federal judge just declared DOJ's voter list maintenance policy unlawful. Existing state-level voter registration procedures appropriately vet citizenship eligibility, and states will continue to responsibly ensure only eligible citizens can vote. The court today reinforced this principle.

Federal threats to interfere with the midterms are hollow and won't happen, says CEIR's @beckerdavidj.bsky.social.

Watch @beckerdavidj.bsky.social explain the #SCOTUS #SAVE system ruling on @cbsnews.com.

Federal law does not permit systematic voter list maintenance this close to an election, so voters should not worry about this decision.

Today, the #DOJ announced charges against 10 noncitizens for registering or #voting.

The announcement reaffirmed that "noncitizen voting is infinitesimally rare and already well-prevented by the states," @beckerdavidj.bsky.social said. https://loom.ly/r4f1XNw

What does the #SCOTUS ruling on the SAVE system mean for the #midterms?

As @beckerdavidj.bsky.social noted, states still can't "do mass or systematic voter list maintenance in the 90 days before an election."

#SCOTUS issued a ruling today allowing the Trump administration to use the revamped SAVE system to check voters' citizenship status, but the decision is unlikely to affect the #midterms.

In this decision, SCOTUS reaffirms that systematic, mass voter list maintenance is BANNED during the 90 days before any federal election, explicitly acknowledging that only "individualized inquiries" can be conducted within 90 days of an election, consistent with the National Voter Registration Act.

DHS has admitted that its extensive efforts to find evidence of voter fraud have resulted in just 1,600 cases and 160 arrests, underscoring how rare noncitizen #voting is.

As the DOJ seeks to pressure states to relinquish sensitive data on hundreds of millions of American voters (DOJ now 0-25 in those cases) we shouldn’t forget that the feds have an atrocious record re: protecting sensitive data. Why would any state trust them?

SCOTUS, with only two public dissents, leaves in place the injunction which blocked Trump‘s mail voting rules from taking effect. It appears as many as six justices agreed that the president was unlikely to win this case on the merits.

This is the reason Congress passed the Privacy Act of 1974. To prevent the federal govt from collecting vast amounts of Americans' private data to weaponize against them, in this case against their voting rights. Kudos to this brave whistleblower for coming forward.
