Yesterday was an important election. It was a chance to choose an inspirational candidate who has gone from being a refugee at 2 to an MP at 42. It was also a chance to say no to divisive politics. To choose leadership that offers answers over anger. Voters did that yesterday.

Various campaign shots of Josh. He’s wearing a lovely t shirt but looks a bit tired!

The morning and afternoon in Holborn & St Pancras. 🌹 It was great to speak with so many people choosing hope with Labour today.

An added bonus to knock on doors alongside the fantastic Jamie and fellow geriatric millenial @joshfg.bsky.social, apparently his t-shirt is a famous service station 🤷🏻‍♀️

“Terrorism” is defined by tactics not aims. But I suspect this argument isn’t going to lead to reflection, have a good day.

It seems to me that you are saying explicitly that we can’t memorialise the Holocaust without also criticising the founding of the Jewish state. Is that your view or am I misinterpreting you?

Events in Palestine are awful. I’ve raised issues from army/settler collusion in the West Bank to seemingly deliberate killings medical workers in Gaza in parliament. But I’d urge you to examine your instinct to make a post about Jewish suffering in the Holacaust into an argument about Palestine.

I’ve just come back from a few days away in Prague researching my wife’s family history. A beautiful city with a sometimes tragic history. But this visit on Monday will stick with me.

The Pinkas memorial in Prague is truly sobering. Every name on the wall is one of the over 77,000 Czech Jews killed in the Holocaust. The names pass through multiple rooms and go up the stairs. Each name written alongside their family was someone with hopes, dreams, hobbies & loved ones.

As I said in my speech the judgement being more clinical than psychological and social was an issue for me. I think it would have been better to have a PMB instigating a royal commission to produce workable legislation rather than trying to do it by an imperfect process

@joshfg.bsky.socialSep 11, 2026, 4:35 PM

I think a royal commission or similar would make sense

@joshfg.bsky.socialSep 11, 2026, 4:26 PM

That’s interesting because you responded within 3 minutes and it’s 5 minutes long. Impressive

@joshfg.bsky.socialSep 11, 2026, 4:25 PM

You couldn’t legislate for funding through the PMB process but on the safeguards the proposers of the bill indicated they wouldn’t accept amendments so they could use the parliament act to pass it.

@joshfg.bsky.socialSep 11, 2026, 4:23 PM

Did you watch the speech or just restate your view?

@joshfg.bsky.socialSep 11, 2026, 4:20 PM

You can see my reasoning here. With the difference between palliative care offers in rich and poor areas there was a very real chance we’d have seen those in wealthy areas choose a comfortable death while those who are poor could only choose an early one youtu.be/Jcf6h0PMsN0?...

@joshfg.bsky.socialSep 11, 2026, 4:13 PM

I know people feel raw about this and I do understand. I’d have voted for a workable bill. But having spoken on a number of occasions on palliative care and social care it’s pretty galling to be accused of bad faith

@joshfg.bsky.socialSep 11, 2026, 4:02 PM

Today I voted against the Terminally Ill Adults (end of life) bill. Not because I oppose the principle but because the bill isn’t safe. I believe palliative care isn’t good enough and not enough has been done to guard against cohesion youtu.be/Jcf6h0PMsN0?...

I was proud to be in parliament to hear the foreign secretary announce comprehensive sanctions on illegal Israeli settlements. Alongside France and Canada. I spoke to push the foreign secretary on calling out settler violence and the collusion of the Israeli army in it.
