A nerd of many varieties; primarily coding, whittling and tabletop role-playing.

Married to @emilyjaneart.bsky.social, who also made my awesome logo and avatar.

Sure, why not. Do you think we could power them by burning endangered species while we're at it?

@drrelling.devOct 12, 2026, 2:08 PM

I don't think you need to convert them. HTM files are usually just HTML files with a short extension for legacy systems the only allowed three characters. What happens if you just rename them .html?

Fantastic piece, genuinely unsettling 😅

Do you have an engine or framework in mind? I can throw together a quick proof-of-concept to prove I know what I'm talking about 🙂

@drrelling.devOct 12, 2026, 9:42 AM

I've never made a visual novel but I've played a few and messed around with making text adventures, arcade games and platformers. Would love to give it a go! I have experience in making games in Godot, PhaserJS, DarkBasic, MonoGame and raw HTML/CSS/JavaScript.

I feel this needed to be brought to your attention 😁

Web developer here with game dev experience! Can I help?

@drrelling.devOct 11, 2026, 12:12 PM

That's amazing! It's got so much depth with the tentacles that I thought it couldn't be a patch at first 😅

No one tell him about The Sims...

"Nevertheless, we propose connecting the do-chaotic-stuff machine to everything so it can do the maximum amount of stuff. We're confident it will be very useful and not at all chaotic."

A fine snoot!

The image I was working from. In hindsight, maybe it was a tad ambitious 😅

Soul Edge from the Soul Caliber video game series. It's made up of bone and flesh, and has a yellow eye in the centre.

Painting is hard, but I think it came out okay.

A tiny wooden greatsword leaning on an altar with runes carved into the base of it.

The sword has a fleshy centre, a bone handle and a metal edge.

I'm fascinated by the idea that someone thinks you can just change all the words without changing the meaning. This seems like such a fundamental misunderstanding of how words work that you have to wonder how they got here.

As a result I try to live an authentic life full of whimsy and contentment, just out of spite 😁 with varying degrees of success but still

@drrelling.devOct 7, 2026, 3:17 PM

I think making you feel like that is the entire goal of modern capitalism

@drrelling.devOct 7, 2026, 2:02 PM

The finish was tricky but fun! I put a sandwich bag into the middle, pushed the ball into it, added some finishing oil and sealed it up, then left the rest soaking in the stain.

A wooden ball in a cage. The cage is stained a dark brown while the ball is a much lighter shade.
@drrelling.devOct 7, 2026, 10:42 AM

Sorry that you'll get Charles

@drrelling.devOct 7, 2026, 9:04 AM

Proof that it does move, and makes a really nice sound.

@drrelling.devOct 7, 2026, 9:04 AM

A fidget toy from before fidget toys were a thing! Easier than you'd think to make, but they do require a lot of patience and care (I have inhaled vastly too much sawdust from carefully smoothing and shaping it)

A carving of a wooden ball in a cage.
